I know it sounds odd, you are thinking that “I have email on my phone” and so do I. So why do I think this will help? If you are anything like me you hate notifications from your email when you get spam or mail that is not important to you, I have over 4 email accounts on my phone and some email addresses get hit with spam all day long but I want to get my new orders as soon as they come in. The solution is easy and anyone can do this!

I will for warn you that if you get a lot of orders and you do not have an unlimited text plan you will have issues with your bill, text messaging is not free!

Now lets start on this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SMS_gateways to find your gateway/ provider for your phone example is  5555555555@vtext.com for Verizon, that will be your “new” email address for your phone. I will now have you go into your store and click on the “Email” link. I choose to use the secondary email box and change some settings on that one, I changed the settings to only send the text twice a day as I do not like getting text messages at 3am but you can do any setting you would like, publish order settings and you are set!

The text that comes through will not include all the order information but it will include the time, order number, store id and name of the customer.
